A multi-disciplinary event celebrating International 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆 with an extended program in collaboration with Nieuwe Instituut exploring the architecture and spaces of the building through a multi-sensory journey of performances and screenings engaging a fruitful gathering of feminist artists.
Elegantly illustrated by Nikki Giovanni’s poem “The Women Gather”, we invited local and guest creatives from diverse backgrounds to celebrate the coming together of differences and mutual support at times when harshness is beckoning at our hearts. On this evening we challenged the stereotypes that women have been subjected to: Witch, Whore, Devoted Wife or Mother. Building towards a multi-faceted perspective on the “female” body, a place of potential and pleasure that will be untangled, re-assembled, cooked, served, digested and ruminated. Through various performances, film, video installations, music and food we embarked on a journey of discovery, and bewilderment together.
